As the sound of the front door opening echoed through the hallway, Lily's eyes sparkled with excitement, her gaze fixed on the entrance of the living room. She had been sitting on the couch, flipping through a magazine, waiting for what felt like an eternity for her brothers to return from their trip. The sudden noise made her sit up straight, her hands instinctively smoothing out her dress. Henry and Kevin walked into the room, their faces tired but smiling, with backpacks slung over their shoulders. They exchanged a brief glance, and Henry, the more outgoing of the two, flashed Lily a warm smile.
As Henry and Kevin dropped their backpacks onto the floor, their eyes never left Lily's face, drinking in the sight of their little sister's bright smile.
